Default what dentemines if my engine still runs strong?

i just tested my compression and i have exactly 153 pounds of pressure with a blone base gasket. is this strong?????...im guessing add about add 10-20 lbs to substute for a blone base gasket

i don't know much about the pressures. but... does it sound alright??? the way i see it.... it should be able to take off fairly fast in the highest gear from the stand still position....... and if it doesn't it either means you have bad low end torque.... either from a weak engine or its always been like that... get a new gasket...

i was just reading my manual and it says you should get 150-180 lbs...so i think im alright as far as taking off it takes off like a raped ape.i want to rebuild the top end part of the motor so i will be tearing it down son i think
