i just picked up my new arai helmet and all i can say is holy cow. i had a fox hart replica before and i am amazed at how much better this helmet fits. i tried on all of the higher end helmets (troy lee, thor carbon, fox v3 ect.) and this is it! it is true you get what you pay for.

I have an 89 dollar black polaris helmet with all the paint peeling off ... do the more expensive helmets just fit better or something?

Tyler,

You really do get what you pay for. I would be surprised if an $89 helmet is DOT and Snell approved.

But, other benefits are:

Fit and finish
Comfort - this is huge if you ride for hours on end
Ventilation
Weight
Protection - DOT and Snell are just minimum safety guidelines. High end helmets exceed these.

Your black peeling helmet is probably just fine for putting around the yard, but I prefer to spend a little money to protect my coconut when I'm out on the trails flying past trees and over rocks.

I say NICE CHOICE SPEEEEDY!!!!

I havent even heard of that brand before. How much did the helmet cost and do they have a website? I cant imagine anything looking cooler than the Thor Carbon fiber helmets though.

Thanks - my cheapie is DOT and Snell approved, I think - the stickers have peeled off. And most of my riding is the kind that the average person wouldn't wear a helmet for (but I wouldn't ride without one). Mine's not that comfortable, but I don't care. It isnt that annoying. And I'm usually riding in extreme cold, so ventilation is a drawback .

I checked out their helmets and it looks like they are all "street style." They dont have open faces...they have the little closeable visor like streetbike helmets. Am I missing something?
