Default Kinda irked at a local shop.

I bought a new quad. I need to sell the old one to help pay some bills. As soon as the "4sale" sign went on the old quad got a knock in the bottom end.

I can do top ends but I've never had any luck rebuilding the bottom so I took it in to where I normally get parts, oil etc.

I told them and I quote " Fix the knock, when you remove the head and jug just put them aside. Do Not worry about the valves, guides etc as I'm only concerned about the knock".

The thing does have a lot of hours on it but it still ran fine........I can't sell it with the knock. I told them "I'm selling it and it developed the knock".

Dude calls me with an estimate for $1800 to rebuild the whole thing! I went there and they had the valves out of the head like I specifically told them not to do!

They have not even removed the engine from the frame! Why get all involved in the top end when I told them to fix the bottom end?

Then comes " While we are in there we should replace........." stuff. It would be a good idea to replace alot of parts if I was keeping the quad. I'm not. I'm tired of dumping $$$ into it and to dump $1800.00 into it when I'll be lucky to get $1500 for it is stupid.

I'm aware It will need gaskets, seals, crank kit etc. Maybe will find some other stuff once it's opened up which I will have replaced but I ain't rebuilding the whole engine!

But what part of "I'm selling it" don't people understand?

Instead of dumping money into it , try selling it the way it is . Tell any potential buyers what it needs and be honest about it , they may buy it to fix . Happens all the time . It wouldn't hurt to get an estimate written out to show buyers .

BTDT! I spent over $200 in Ebay ads, Cycle trader and the local paper. Nobody is interested in it with the problem.
