a good helmet
#2
As far as price, there aren't too many for $100. A helmet is the most important thing you should own if you ride. I've landed on my head at 50+ mph and didn't even feel it, but I probably wouldn't be here if I didn't have my helmet on. I was wearing an answer M-7 at the time which is an excellent helmet for about $180. How much is your head worth, you may find a good helmet for $100-150. I think bell has a plastic shell helmet in this range, there may be a few others. But if you can there are a lot of very good helmets between $150-200. KBC, Answer M-7, HJC, etc. Many in this category are fiberglass shells with removeable linings for ease of washing.
Your best bet would be to go to your local dealer and look at different kinds, and try them on for fit. Helmets are like shoes, different brands fit different people better. Make sure its it fits snugly, but not painfully. They do losen up a lot.

Helmets are important. Don't worry about spending too much money on it.
I had a major wipe out this weekend, and wouldn't be here if I didn't have all my equipment on.
I just bought the stuff last month because I had a near miss. It almost cost me $1,000.
But I can tell you today, it was a great investment. I only have a sore foot, instead of sitting in a hospital.

newbe - i wouldnt limit your spending quite so much on something as important. i dont really have much to say that hasnt been said.
i rode with a hundred dollar helmet for years, the thing is that theres not much for full face hemlets down around $100, and none i know of that are snell 95 certified.
just as sickman suggested, i think the answer m-7 helmet is an excelt helmet.
i bought mine over a year ago, and the only complaint i can think of is that i wish it had larger vents.
the m-7 is the least expensive snell 95 full face helmet i know of, and it dont look bad either.
