yamaha snowmobile question

I am having trouble getting the left piston to fire, I replaced both spark plugs and my spark is great. The piston has nothing wrong with it, but I am wondering if the rings are shot.
I am planning on ripping it apart tomorow
Any replys would be great

"Spark is great" elliminates electrical problems.
"Single carb" elliminates fuel delivery, UNLESS there is air leaking from a bad seal, boot, ect. that effects that cylender.
Kinda narrows it down to a mechanical problem.
PS Remember to hold the throttle wide open for the compression test.

Check the compression first. If it is low on the left cylinder put a couple squirts of straight to stroke oil in the cylinder and retest. If it sat all year I have seen rings stick and cause this. Did it run good the last time it was running ?? Sometimes by putting the oil in the cylinder it will free the rings up. The reason I say to put the oil in and retest compression is because if it is the rings the oil in the cylinder will usually make a better seal and raise the compression. If it doesn't help it could be a bad piston ( cracked or burned) or a broken ring also.
