just got done playing against my dad. He is a fairly good shot. And I beat him...this is how scoring went between us..
each came is a point a ball and 7 points for the 8 ball...first person to excced there score wins.
I am normally a 45, but started at a 50, and he was an 80.
For each lose the winner choose between going down 5 points or the other person up 5 points...I went up...I eventually ended up at a 65, and then he called it quits...the last game I ended up at 69 points while he was at like 55 or something like that!!
yeah sorry I get excited when I beat him.
ohh as for cues, my dad and I both shoot with muecci and we both break with cue techs...I was given the cue tech this year for christmas...
So lets hear any stories and what kind of cues you shot with

I play a lot during the winter and am pretty descent if I do say so myself. I usually just play normal 8 ball, tournament rules. No scoring. Last year I finally won from the break without missing a shot, that was cool.
Webopper, I also play some 9 ball every now and then. How are you supposed to get rated? Playing in tournaments?
As for cues, as long as it is straight Im not to picky. Shooting pool in bars makes that a difficult task sometimes. I do have a 19 ounce Graphite cue that I really like to use if I have it with me.
Anyone ever play cut-throat?

we have an 8 footer(I think) in the basement and the pro size at my college...the one in our basement should actually be a bar box to make it easier to shoot on...kind of close quarters

Well, I am definately no expert. but a few years back, we were at a bar that I had won a 100 dollar free tab. We were putting a pretty good dent in the tab and decided we shoot some pool for the heck of it. After about fifteen minutes, these guys came over and put two quarters up for the next game. No big deal, weren't playing for anything but fun. So by now were about at the 50 level of the tab. Drinking margaritas, wild tureky, and beer. Feeling pretty good, I get to break. Dropped the eight ball in on the break. One guy was just like wtf, and his freind didn't know you won when that happened. My friend was telling them, nice game anyway. And of course, I had to good of a buzz to even notice what I did. Probably never do it again, and I missed it the first time.

I have played some pool in my days. Motox, yes I have played cut-throat. I found that the best pool I play is pocket pool. I'am just comfortable with my custom cue. I dont even have to get up to play. No really, I play every now and then at the bar or a friends house, but I never got real caught up in it. I remember once when I was like 16, I bought a kick *** cue and went into the local pool hall. Well this place was like a trashy bar type place, with alot of bad attitudes. I won the first game I played, which netted my like 25 bucks, and a fight broke out so I left. The next time I came back, I had some friends. I walk in and the guy wants to play me right away, but I deny him, saying I just got here let me get warmed up. Next thing I know my buddy smokes him with a cue to the head, knocking him out cold. We ran to the car, where he proceeds to tell me the dude had a knife in his hand behind his back. For 25 bucks! I never went back. I do play a little from time to time, but would rather play some shuffle board.

Buddy of mine got me started. Played in a huge local tourny and took 2nd place and won like $250 and got my picture in a magazine...I was hooked after that.
