Kangaroo Kid !!

I personally think he would've made that jump with a 500cc motor on that frame. As a matter of fact, I herd he will try it again next year with a 550cc KTM engine. I wonder how he supports his sport and his three kids? It should take alot of money to travel through the globe.

JJFAT... Did you hear the breakdown on the bike he was riding...It is a cr250 motor...hooked up to pull him along at upwards near 100mph or more....I think the 500cc motor would make the bike too heavy.(but he's the professional, he would know i guess) He said himself that he could have made the jump...assuming he had enough room to get up to speed. He mentioned that he should have been going much faster for the jump. His tires were spinning like crazy on the way down that start ramp.

Hey sayltfmf, there's no way a cr250 engine will reach near 100mph. specially on a quad. To get close to that range you need to sacrafice low-end power, which "the kangaroo kid" needed. Besides, a 500cc engine has so much power that the difference of weight is not a factor. Nevertheless, he's jumped long distance jumps with a banshee. Now tell me a banshee weights less than a trx frame with a 500cc engine. Give me a break!!!!!

Well JJFAT....I don't need to argue with you....But quoted from the "Kid" himself
"My Banshee had a YZ250 mx engine in it. It did about 98 mph. "
The gearing was changed for that reason.
So before you claim to be a know it all do your homework.... The bike that was used in the jump this week...WAS a Phillips yz250..(not a banshee or a 250r...but kind of a hybrid).you should have watched the show....
The "Kid" said himself that he needed to hit the jump going around 80-85 mph....He then said that he did not make that speed. He did mention trying a 500cc motor...but had not as of this point.
To answer your response about the banshee's weight.... Yes I am willing to bet that the Banshee weighs close to the trx....There is not one thing on any of his jumping quads that is stock....A stock frame would crumble with those kinds of landings...just cause something looks like a banshee...does not mean that it is a stock banshee. there is alot of weight to be saved in the aftermarket.
I myself would not be interested in trying any of those jumps...It takes a special person for that.
