Default repair plastic...

has anyone ever heard of repairing plastic of small scratches and mars ,by 1500# wet sand, then using a buffing wheel ,with being careful not to melt the plastic by letting it cool ,inbetween applications.
a very good autobody tech told me this ,anyone try this, or have another remedy?
curious~

I just use Pledge for wood or armorall

never tried to remove a scratch though, guess I wasn't worried about them. Seems to me that you go and sand on the plastic your gonna have a shallow spot there, if it's a deep scratch then your gonna have thin plastic there! I migh transmit light differently then it would really make the scratch stand out.
