Default GAS WAR!!help save $$

(got this email and thought since we buy lots of gas for quads and trucks, this might help save $$)

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ' s worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. ?Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. ?It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE
>>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

That plan first appeared during the gas crunches in the early 70's. Didn't work then either. You're dealing with mulit-national compaines that are very diversified. Targeting the retail fuel sales divisions of two companies will just cause a minor sales restructuring but will not cause the widespread price slashing that this plan proposes.

Drive less, drive 10% slower, consolidate trips, carpool are all plans that will work. The rest of these plans are just internet wishful thinking.

I went to a speech this morning by the head of LIPA (power company in NY). He said gas is most likely to go up to about $4 a gal. if nothing happens like a hurricane or oil field attack. Also, he said that if nothing is done, we will have tons of shorteges, worse then they were in the 70's.
We should definatley do something with Exxon/Mobile because they made profits of over $35 BILLION. I don't know what you all think, but thats outragouse! Then the person took a retirement package that had $400,000,000.00 yearly!

Believe you are on the right track Jaybee. If we each reduce our consumption by just a few percent it will have a big impact at the pump. This also works for natural gas and propane.

If we fail to cut back a little on fuel consumption it's going to have a major impact in a lot of other areas. The additional fuel cost to farmers is going to put a lot of them out of business and/or drive the cost of food up in short order.

Anyone know the brand names that Mobil/Exxon sell under? If someone knows please list the station names.

The reason I ask. I ask: Our biggest station around here is QT. There are at least 5 in my town and hundreds elsewhere. I went to there site and t6his is what I found
QuikTrip is an American-owned, privately held company with a 47-year history in the convenience store/gasoline retail industry. The gasoline and diesel fuel we offer to our customers is purchased from various refineries all located in the U.S.
There have recently been a number of questions raised about whether QuikTrip buys gasoline from Middle Eastern countries. We do not purchase any crude oil or have any influence on the purchasing decisions made by the companies who own the refineries.
As an independent marketer, we do not operate any pipelines or terminals; we are strictly a retailer of quality motor fuels and convenience items to consumers in our markets.
All gasoline marketers in the United States get their gasoline from various terminals in their cities. This gasoline has been mixed in pipelines with gasoline from a number of refineries. Although we may purchase our gasoline from a specific refiner, the gasoline we actually pull out of the pipeline is really generic. Even retail outlets of major oil companies end up drawing their gasoline out of the same pipeline as everyone else.

One of the ways the big oil companies made there money comes from something that happened quit a few years ago. Back when oil prices were down, and companies were losing money. The government came up with the idea of giving the companies money and tax breaks to encourage the continued exploration of new oil sources. It was/is based on the current market price of oil. Now that oil is at a record high, so are their paybacks for this.

BTW, blame Bush for the high prices, but this idea was conceived and applied during the Clinton administration.

Sounds okay, but I just got this e'mail:

DON'T BUY ANY NEW 2007 VEHICLES

The high cost of fuel to run your vehicles is an outrageous price, and still climbing. We all have heard of the one day, do not buy gas, and how much we can hurt the OIL GIANTS.
What a joke, they know that one day sales will be down but the following day it will be doubled.

We the people can combat these oil giants, because everyone will not give up driving and the need of it. What we can do is let them go and let someone else go to work for us.
My suggestion is to work on the products that use these fuels. If everyone in the United States would not buy a 2007 Vehicle and let the car maker industry eat their vehicles for a year, this would put them at bat and do one of two things..They would make a vehicle that is more cost efficient to run, or they would put such an outcry to oil industry that the prices would come down. We need vehicles that are better at gas mileage. The car manufacturers will not be the only one affected by this..How about all of those that makes the parts and the steel industry. This will really make an outcry to the oil giants.

We can afford not to buy a new 2007 vehicle. Why buy a new one this year coming, we can do without a new one, and run the vehicle that we have already purchased. Yes we can go without a new car for one year, but can we afford to go another year with the gas price increases, and say nothing. I have found out it is who we complain to or what we do that makes the largest impacts in our lives.

The little guy such as you and I cannot and will not affect big business.
Let's put some clout behind our gripes and let someone else to do the work for us. Remember this will effect a lot of people and it will make a difference. If you agree not to buy a new car in the year of 2007 and think this will make a major impact on the oil companies, PLEASE pass this on to everyone. We have to August to get this across America.

Thank you for your support

NO 2007 VEHICLES

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't afford a new vehicle anyway!!! LOL
