Dear Members,
It has come to my attension that the ATVing.com forums seems to be going down under and into the gutter with all this clutter. People seem to be starting fights more and more about things that make no sense!!! I expect a argument here and there but nothing like it has been latly. As we expeand here at ATVing.com and take in new members, I expected the quality to go down, but nothing like this. I ask that all member reread their posts and check the question you just responded to. I read a post and say WOW, this guy is mad. Then I read the previous post and WOW, this guy didn't do anything. Can we just cool it and try to see it from anther persons view. If they are wrong, suggest somthing else. Don't coerce (force) sombody into liking your ATV cuz you have it. I have made a promise to my self to read read all posts, especially mine to assure quality is what I'm typing. What you type reflecks on your name, which is all you have online. I'd like mine to be a respected one.

Evan,
Please adhere to the ATV Connection Forum guidelines regarding embedded graphics/gimmicks. They take up too much bandwidth which could otherwise be used for posting text messages.

I thought it really got bad in the fall but tappered off lately. Usually, a topic that asks which is the best atv, gets the fire started. I have been in another forum where you do not register and it got to be very vulgar and people out right bad mouthing other people. I think they are going to set up there forum like this one where you have to register. I dont see anything wrong with clean honest respectfull arguments as long as
they dont cross the boundries of human decency. I try to remember that we are all atv'ers and thus have something in common. It
was on this forum that I found out about the clinton/gore plan to close the forest roads all over the u.s.. I sent my e-mails out urging they dont do this. They want to buy more land and ad them to the current national
forests and I thought that part of the plan was good. But not the rest. Even after that, here in minnesota, there are groups that want
to take away our use on the rest of the states public land. Our state forests, and state and county land. We are fighting to keep these open to atv use. The only way we can do that is to ban together. If we fight among ourselves then we will loose. These things are very much on my mind these days..

Alrighty, off topic but what is the deal with the editing of Evans post by the moderators? Taking up bandwidth? I'm going to assume that he had the "ticker tape" running at the bottom of his post as thats what I've seen on some other posts by him. All that takes is a little bit more text to do so the amount of bandwidth being taken up isn't even enuf to mention. Sometimes I wonder about this place.

ATVBBS:
First, THANK YOU for hosting this board! You have undertaken a herculean task of trying to provide a bulletin board which covers the entire ATV spectrum; all brands, all facets. It is understandable that trying to keep it organized and useful will be trying at times.

As a newcomer to the ATV scene I have found a great deal of information from your site. More than from any other place on the internet. At this point I am searching for ATV information and not interested in the social aspects or building commraderie via bulletin board posts. While that may come later, it is frustrating to spend time viewing topics which sound informative, but in essence are not or which start out informative, but quickly end up in social banter.

A couple thoughts to consider in making the board even a better one.

1. Some periodic reminders from ATVBBS asking people to keep TOPIC headers descriptive of the topic they want to discuss. In looking at one fourm containing 23 headers, nearly half required opening the post to see what the author wanted to present. A topic such as "Oh Boy" gives no clue and solicits smart alec responses wasting bandwidth.

2. Consider adding 2 or 3 sub-categories to each Brand fourm. I would suggest TECHNICAL and GENERAL for starters. Hopefully, The TECHNICAL category can be kept relatively consice with technical content. Those desiring to socialize, compete with other atv'ers via their desktops or discuss non-technical issues could do it in another sub catgegory. In short, if folks could be channeled more to their interest area, they wouldn't be so inclined to start babbeling off-subject.

Again, thanks for your efforts with this board.

H-Man, are you telling us the providers of the privately-owned, but free and voluntary service of the ATV Connection Forum actually establish their own policies?

The ATV Connection actually established a policy of standard fonts, just to conserve bandwidtth for publishing information? What right does the ATV Connection have to establish its own policies?

Horrors! What's next? Newspapers, like the New York Times: magazines, like Sports Illustrated; radio stations, like your own "All Rap--All the Time," or whatever, favorite; even TV networks, like NBC, etc., will ALL be establishing their own policies! Could telephone companies and Intenet service providers be far behind?

Don't be surprised if you even find a sign someday in your favorite restaurant, articulating the oppressive and arbitrary policy, "No shoes, no shirt, no service!"

haha.. that's great... and i just realized you probably thought i was referring to you, the admin,.. ha.. sorry, i meant the users that feel they can just walk on, bash everything from here to the sun, and still think they're god...

believe me, having worked admin jobs before, i will almost always side with you... i know first hand the joy of "us the users"... ha..

-brian.

i mean let's face it, admins don't need a god mentality, we have the root pass...
