If my pc has a ethernet port does that mean it has a NIC card or do I have to install one? I've never opened the tower and I'm not sure what it looks like.

 

u might have to install one if ur comp didnt come with one. u have to open it up to see

You do not have to open up the case to find out if you have Ethernet. Look behind the case and see if you have an RJ45 port it will look like a telephone jack just bigger. Now depending on how old your machine is, the port will either be built onto the motherboard or it will have the add in card or NIC installed into one of your ISA or PCI ports.

thanks im now streamn at 608 kbps, had some trouble hooking up the dsl.
