How to re-size your pics
#1
Here is a great tool for resizing http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm and it's really easy to use. Plus, you can convert the image file if it's not the right kind. The best part is it's free!!
Here's a quick easy guide to use it for re-sizing.
1.)open irfranview
2.)click file>open (you'll see in my example how huge pic is)
3.)click image>resize/resample it's best here to just choose the 640 x 480 pixels option.
4.)click ok, you'll see in pic 4 that the picture is now smaller
5.)click file>save as make sure you select JPG-JPEG Files in the "save as type bar" Once you have selected that, another little box opens up right beside that window. It will say JPEG/GIF OPTIONS at the top. Select 40 as the quality level on the slide bar. If you choose higher, the file size may be too large.(Not to be confused with the image size, the file size is the amount of memory it takes up)
I will post the pics to this in my picture page once my supporting member status returns. I captured the screen for each step of this. I can only have 12 pics in there right now.
This works much better than just using microsoft paint as you can select the save quality in that last step, making it so the file size is actually smaller.
Mods, feel free to sticky this. I know this question is asked quite a bit.

Another easier program if you have Windows XP is Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
Go there or get Image Resizer HERE directly.
After installing it, you can right click on the common image formats and click resize to change the image size. It's not very powerful, but it's small and it works for going 640x480 with a couple clicks and no program loading->open file.
