I took my winch of for about 5 days because the cable kept snapping and i didnt have enough time to get a new one and i jsut got one today and i put it on and hooked up the wires and clicked the rocker button to reel in the cable and it only clicks now, does anyone know wats wrong

 

Are you sure it isn't set to Free Spool?

...sometimes it's the simple things.

 

im sure i check it and put it in both positions...idk if anything is frozen i was up north for awhile in real cold weather adn theres a lot of ice on it idk it thats it

 

Maybe try warming it, my wifes would not work when cold on her outty but does fine when is warmed a bit. Should not do that but did. Mine works fine when cold as it what I use to plow with.

 

sometimes the rocker arms get moisture in it and you have to keep working the rocker arm until it makes contact. i have a superwinch rocker arm switch that does the same thing,,i need a new switch but until i get one all i do is keep playing with the button until it makes contact

 

when i click the rocker switch i just hear a click i think it is the contacter

 

That was my question. Do you hear the contactor click when you try to operate the winch? If not, it's bad. What did you remove - just the two winch wires, right? If you messed with the contactor wires, double check to make sure you reconnected them correctly. Good luck!

 

mines does the same thing,,all you hear is the contactor clicking,,i just just keep working mines back and forth ,,,back and forth ,,till it makes contact,,,than it works but kinda weak to me,,sometimes i think my winch is losing power doesnt sound like it reeling smooth,,have you had that problem,,

 

i just took off the two wires and i put them back correctly and it just makes a clicking nose ill try rockin the switch back and forth to see if it makes a difference

 

where did you find out how to replace your winch line ?
