are manufacturers watching us?

one real big question that comes to mind sometimes is: are they are actually watching these boards to get input??
if so, what criteria do they use to evaluate responses?
what are they looking for & what does it avail them?
will it help sell more machines?
will it help sell machines if they have people posting good things about thier machines? (like pushing the market, as is done w/ stock markets by brokerages sometimes)
will it sell more aftermarket parts and such?
finally: would they ever say they were here to do it & why?

Greetings,
A long ways back I asked why the manufacturers didn't watch the forums and reply to some of the technical questions or other issues raised by the participants. The moderator said that they had tried it for a while but took so much crap that they just quit.
Whether they watch in silence is anybody's guess. I once asked my dealer if he checked out the forums and he had never heard of it or at least had never given it any thought.

Then why no 250R? Is there no demand? Is Honda making THAT MUCH $$$ off of 250R parts that they don't need to produce a whole quad? Maybe the 250R wanters are similar to the enviro freaks... We want a decent racer, but there are only a few of us who vocalize our needs (rather loudly and repetitively). We don't seem to get our way though.
You probably weren't just talking about Honda and the 250R. But I am, again...

I've personally been told by the manufacturers that they visit these forums daily. The engineering groups use these forums to research what people say about their machines and competitor's machines. They also use the forums to help determine the direction of new products.

If the manufacturers are reading these then I think all they are getting out of it is recreational reading. How many Billions of times has it been said that the chain tightener on the Banshee sucks and that the Banshee frames are made out of tin foil!
If they do look at the forums all they are doing is making sure that people are still satisfied paying thousands of dollars for stuff they haven't NEEDED to change in decades.
I've seen riding lawnmowers come out with more innovations, upgrades and quality in the last 15 years than I have in the ATV industry. AND if I spent 7000.00 on a new lawnmower it darn well better last for a LONG time.
So if the manufacturers are watching then what the heck are they doing about what they see. I guess they look at it differently than we do.
I gotta go...I'm looking for a new frame for my 99 banshee.

I stopped in the Honda plant on the way home last fall,, And let me tell you, The security in that place is tight! There are eye's in the sky everywhere.
After looking around for awhile this man appeared out of nowhere and stated,,,"You!,,round eye,,What you doing", and I replyed,,I'm looking for who to talk to about a tour? Then the man with a name for which I could not pronounce stated," Are you a twesspaser??, If your are I am going to put you in "banbo box" with bad welders!!!
I stated No No I just looking for tour,,,,,Ok,e. And with that he pointed with his sowrd and stated " You go to administachion building"! And with that I gladly accepted his re-direction, but being it was Sunday no tours were going on.
So I got back in my truck and continued on my way home. Maybee some other day?

I was sent here by POLARIS to try to get as many people interested in the polaris line of rugged, dependable, long lasting ATV's.
I think I've done my job.
Thank you all for your time.
