What a great day for riding! 75 degrees with a cool wind. I now have ATV'ed 162 miles in the four weeks I've had it. I love my ATV (holding back tears).

I'm definitely a better rider now. Part of the land around my house is a hugh pond. It was dug out a few years ago and now we have this large mountain of settled earth. Under the powerlines are wicked ruts left by the machines that clear the growth from under the lines. It took me a few hours to get comfortable with standing and shifting my weight as the ATV felt like it was going over. And using the throttle to get a somewhat constant speed over real hard terrain takes a little practice. Still, I have not rolled it yet - or fallen off. I've only been stuck one time for a few seconds on a snow-covered log (just spinning the tires). I had to back up and take it again, no big deal.

I almost smacked a deer a few days ago. There's a xmas tree farm right next door. I have not really asked if I could ride but they've seen me and not said anything... yet. I'm trying to be more careful on the land. The machine can really tear it up bad (real bad) if you go full throttle. Which doing IS fun but not necessary for a good ride. Anyway, going about 25mph down one of the access roads a freakin deer jumps right out in front of me (well, maybe 20' in front of me ). It was cool.

Riding is killing my back!

It is pretty windy here right now. I'm about five miles from Lake Michigan. But, it's the first short sleeve shirt riding day for me.

You guys are really lucky.
We still have about 4' of snow on the ground and the weatherman is calling for snow showers on and off for the next 5 days!

What's wrong with snow?

I ride a 2001 Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4. I also got a winch installed (never used it). I'm thinking about getting some extras for it. Power kit, high performance exhaust... just because it would be cool. Each of these items are really pretty cheap. My wife can blow $500 easy at WalMart.

How can I join up with MATVA?
