Pennsylvania DCNR Nazi &%$$#@& !
#12
My whole problem with this is NOT having to register and insure my bikes (they already are), but the DCNR ***** telling me what I have to do on my property! I don't have to register motorvehicles that never leave my property, why ATVs? Maybe I'll just sell the ATVs and get a dirt bike, they haven't caught up to them yet. And if I'm reading this law right, all atvs that are RACED in Pennsylvania will have to have license plates too or they will be fined. Just imagine....the Fish Police pulling you over during a race to check registation, insurance and making sure your license plate is properly displayed. The registration is nothing new....but the license plates are. We all know what they are for...easier identification. I am no goody two shoes, however, I do know of riders that have the attitude that they will ride wherever and whenever they damn well please. So if this effects those riders I am all for it.
With that said, I think it isn't going to do a damn thing for the "illegal" riders. You'll have more people running from anyone with the authority to make a traffic stop and you'll have more cops drooling over a new "group" to issue tickets too.
I am disappointed that off-road motorcycles are not included in this requirement. I contacted my representative about it and was basically told that the bike numbers aren't nearly what the ATV numbers are....so basically we are the group that would pull in the most money for someone.
What can we do? Nothing really. Until America wakes up and starts voicing their displeasure at the voting booths all over the country.
Anyone found a good insurance rate yet? Progressive quoted me $125 annually but I think that is pricey for liability only. I want something in the $50 to $75 range.

Go to www.cycleins.com. They gave me a rate of 120 a year for each quad, full coverage. That's the best I've found. Progressive wanted 215 each. State farm wanted something like 175 each.

Magnum Mudman and Kodiak Amy;
Thanks for the insurance leads. Here are the results of my quest to be compliant with the new PA state law coming into effect soon.
1998 Polaris Scrambler 500cc - 30yr old driver w/ no safety course and only minimum coverage as required by law. All quotes are for one year of coverage.
Quote #1 - Progressive Insurance $125
Quote #2 - Weinsurefun.com $168
Quote #3 - cycleins.com $80
So I am obviously going with the Cycle Insurance Agency based out of Philadelphia. They are mailing me the required forms. You could choose to have instant coverage if you wanted with a credit card but since the new law isn't in effect yet I'll do it the snail mail way. Thanks again.
