Yes, i agree!!!...just read my signature

you must always push your limits, beause if you never fail
you will never succeed.

sure it came from a No Fear poster, but i think it holds true to anything. You can't live your life sheltered from everything dangerous and un-safe...hell, i could die walking across the street and getting wacked by a bus just as easily as anything else. when your number's up...it's up, and your checking out weather you like it or not and there's nothing you can do about it.

just my .o2 cents

Id like to say thats the Main reason I bought mine for that reason. just kidding,ya bring up a fine point on that most americans are in the dark on this they rather listen to numbers, just like the green issue then do some hw and dig deeper to fine the real truth.
Either that or these people seriously need to get laid and get alife LOL.I would say on my opinion most riders get hurt because there riding drunk, over there skill level, both lack of experience or all 3,people kill people not guns or atvs there just the tools to do so.The atv industry messed up w bikes and quads ,it should be when ya go to buy a bike or quad ya have to take a test a riding course and a final test to prove what ya learned then if ya go out and ride like and idiot ya should have known. The Industry should get involved and start buying land there making 100 thousand of these units and there starting to cut our riding out by yanking land, the Japanese mfgs know this and they dont care make money either way.I know im getting off subject here so Ill leave it at that.Tally Ho have a great day

The problem with ATVs is that have the stupid temptation of falling on top of you. Happened to me twice...and 400lbs is more than it seems.
But again...when you go hunting, another hunter could shoot you, when you cross the street someone could run you over, or even closer, you could miss a step (usually, the first one)...etc

The problem is not figures or "ATVs are dangerous"...the problem (and it is really U.S. related) is that some people think they have to decide what's good for you and what's not, because you 're too stupid to know what you're doing...duh.

That brings up a really good question...what are the injury stats in Japan where these things are made? Does anyone even ride over there?

I really don't know what the big deal is. ATVs aren't dangerous. Guns aren't dangerous. Hydrogen bombs aren't dangerous. If this sounds silly to you, then maybe you need to think about it.

Machines are all inanimate objects. Inanimate objects are just that. They can't move or do anything on their own. As we haven't developed A.I. (Artificial Intelegence) yet ALL machines fall into this catagory. An ATV isn't dangerous if a rider isn't on it. A gun isn't dangerous it someone doesn't pick it up and an H-bomb isn't dangerous unless some one pushes the button.

There seems to be a growing movement in this country to place the blame on inanimate objects, rather than people who are the root cause of all of these problems. Perhaps it stems from up bringing, or maybe people don't want to take responsability for their own actions (or lack of them in many cases). The story of the girl who broke her neck was very moving. HOWEVER, where were the parents during all of this? Probably not keeping an eye on her as they should have been. Therefore, it was the parent's fault for: 1. not keeping an eye on her. And two, letting her ride unsupervised in the first place. The proper authorities should have filed charges on the parents. I know it seems a pretty heartless thing to do after losing their daughter, but more than likely they'll just do the same thing again. If not with an ATV then, with something else.

There are exactly three kinds of people in theis world. The first is, People who can learn from other peoples mistakes. The second is, People who can only learn from their own mistakes. And the third is, People who never learn, ever.

It may sound crass, but you must understand that sometimes there is a bit of the "Darwin Effect" going on here. Stupid people raise stupid children who grow up to be stupid adults who breed even more stupid people etc, etc. Pretty soon, the world is full of stupid people looking for someone to hold their hand and protect them from the bad, bad things. Hence the need for Democrats in todays world. They convince the stupid people that they will hold their hands and can protect them from these bad, bad things. Pretty soon the whole world is as safe as can be, and as exciting as watching grass grow. Of course they can't actually watch the grass grow, because they have no freedom to do so.

Now if some of these stupid people, lose their stupid children in the process of growing up, we will have less stupid adults for the next generation. The smart people, who have smart childern (i.e. children who are taught to learn from the mistakes of others) will actually have a chance to grow up and live in a free society. Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating the euthanasia of stupid people, or their children, but I do believe in letting nature take it's course.

I feel bad for people who have lost loved ones, even stupid people. I just don't see why the rest of us smart people have to suffer because of the actions of a few stupid people.

I will agree with you that it takes an inexperienced person to make an inanimate object do something harmful. At the same time there are inherant risks involved in using almost any device. I have never heard of someone suing Lladro because the figurine hurt someone while sitting on the shelf, probably because they are made to look at, not ride thru the woods on. ATV manufacturers and their sellers will continue to be sued and regulated because the device can be dangerous when used inappropriately. There was quite an extensive discussion on this topic under... "Drinking and riding don't mix" and "Where is the responsibility line drawn". I'm glad that there are a certain amount of warnings and quality needed to build an atv. But at the same time I don't feel that we need any ruling authority to tell us riding as a whole is too dangerous.

ATV's aren't dangerous, ignorant, stupid people, are dangerous.

I've had evey manner of ATV since the late 70's. And the only times I got hurt is when I did something stupid, usually it went along with the statement, "Watch this..."

Locally, we just had a family let there 6 year old drive their big farm quad (loaded with racks) unsupervised, around the family farm to give the kid something to do. They hadn't seen him in about an hour, went looking and found the 4 wheeler upside in an irrigation ditch and the youngster pinned underneath, where he drown.

Stupid parents, caused this. and of course, ATV's get the blame, because people don't want to take responibility for themselves.
