Sunday night at about 10:30 my wife and I lost everything in a fire that the insurance inspectors believe was started by the Warn winch I had installed a week earlier. If you have a Warn winch on your wheeler take the time to make sure it's not one of the recalled ones. Believe me I don't want anyone to have to go through what we are going through right now! We lost 90% of our positions including two vehicles and two ATV's - The most important part is that we all got out safe- Thank God for that!!!!

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I checked my winch based on the purchase date and I am ok. Have you contacted Warn about any financial retribution? I realize that you have insurance, but that only seems to go so far. I would see what they are willing to help you with. Realizing that your insurance will replace your assets, its still tough to lose all the memories. Glad you both got out fine and nobody was injured.

sorry to here that. when i last went to my arctic cat dealer he pounced on me immediately by asking what brand of solenoid i had in my warn winch kit. it seems that if you have a white rodgers you are prone to suffer a fire even while the quad is turned off. the wr is identified by either the name or by the closed ended holes in the solenoid mounting bracket. the new model solenoid is a camdec and its mounting bracket has open ended holes.

Thanks everyone. We are on our way back I even got another Kaw 650 ordered yesterday and will be back riding in a week or so. Thanks again for everyone's support.

 

Once the insurance company pays anything on the claim, they obtain the rights to pursue the manufacturer or installer of the defective componant. Most insurance companies WILL energetically go after the company that caused the loss. You may be able to pursue the manufacturer for any items that the insurance company didn't pay for but it may be best to wait until the insurance company goes after them since they will prove the parts were the cause of loss. All you'll have to do is piggy back on the legal work of the insurance company.
