I posted this in response to a 4x4 vs. 8 wheeler argument on a MAX form. It has to be approved by the moderators of the MAX board before posting, I suspect it will not be seen at all.. Go to the link described and submit your opinion respectfully..:
Interesting..
At least some of the MAX owners will admit to faults in the design... How often does a person need to float a stream? Not often(although I know some of you prolly have a stream outside your front door) The argument that a quad wont last as long as a Max is irrelevant( What about Honda 250 R three wheelers that are still on the stock piston after 15 years?). Ive got a lawn tractor that pumps about about 7 HP. but will last for quite some time. Does this make it better than a MAX, Assuredley not, Id rather have the MAX(unles of course it does not have a mower attachment, it would be useless to me in that circumstance) Its all about what you want to do with your particular machine. Is the Max a better hunting vehicle, Yea probably. Is it a better woods machine, no, too wide. Will you beat me in a drag race or a hill climb that we BOTH agree to race (if you even wanna try to race). Doubt it. Is the Max fun, Yea, looks like it is. Is it fun blasting through the woods at 45-50 mph through trees on a quad, Hell Yea! I guess you could put it this way, if your looking for slow, with the ability to conquer diverse terrain, go for the MAX. If you want something fast along with some regular maintanance( as if the MAX needs none), you get the 4x4 Scrambler(which, by the way, would clear those logs your talking about). But, speed is not out of the question for the MAX. I have seen a Max with a transplanted 1300cc Subaru 4 cylinder motor installed, it could do 45-50 mph. Just dont hit a 3 inch
bump, the lack of any suspension can be rough...

Wow,Hey Chickenman you notice that not once did any of them give the PRICE of the MAX versus the price of a top of the line 4x4 Quad. The MAX-IV that Chickenman and myself rode in cost $8000.00 and was not one of the ones with all the bells and whistles. Compare that to the price of a Yamaha Grizzly or comparable Quad and see what you think. One should really take a close up look at the Max first though it is built so simple, no doubt its reliable theres nothing on it to break except for maybe that 30+ feet of drive chain theres really not much to it,a briggs engine, two halves of the plastic body ,enough rivits to hold it together, couple of seats, axles and bearings ,a few sprockets(ok a bunch of sprockets),and a few other pieces. Its tough for me to look at it and see $8000.00 worth but I guess value is in the eye of the beholder.

That is kinda scary if ya think about it. I didn't know their was actually that many Max owners out their. And all of them seem to think they have Hummers or somthing. I want to see a max cross the ocean if they are so great.

Holy cow...There sure are a few winners in that forum. How can anyone be so naive? It amazes me how a particular group of people can pack up like wild Hyenas and just get plain stupid! Stroking each other....Our Argos Rule! Whatever.....WAIT!!!
Hear that noise? Aww man...It's the bell, recess is over. Bummer.
