alltoys,

A leading company that builds ice shanties, 'The Clam', just came out with a model that fits right on your rig and folds down with you and it inside. They also have a camo version for hunting but I can't find their website with the search engine. Saw this in a mag and swore the adress was printed as 'the-clam'

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

John

The Fleet Farm store in Fergus Falls MN sells the Clam and the Frabil protable ice houses. I guy I work with has a clam and it fits right on the back of his ATV and my Father has the pull behind clam, both are nice houses. Don't know if there is a Fleet Farm in your area, but if there is its a place to check out.

Good day fellows I just made it back from a 2 day fishing trip on the ice and I finally found a sweet spot for Perch. We had to quad some 40 kms. back in the bush but it was worth it. The temperature was a steady
-35Celcius with 10km winds. There was four of us with four small ice tents with no floor just a frame with the cover over the frame and we had an outfitters tent for the main camp with a fold up wood heater. We slept and were well fed. For the last I would say 10 years the fishing especially winter has not been all that great. It would take more than 2 days of steady fishing to get a full limit of Perch around a 1/2 to 3/4 pound range. Although these last 2 days were awsome as my sun used to say. Both days we were on the ice by 9AM and limited out by 11:30 and the limit now is 15.The fish were all around a pound to almost 2 pounds. That's the best fishing I have had since I was a kid and bringing in around 150 fish in a day between 4 people and, the limit was actually well there was no limit. The average was 10 inches with the odd one at 12 inches with 5 whoppers at 14 inches excellent fishing.

To get back to the ice tent thing the website of the clam is excellent and I have contacted them by E-mail for information so thank you for the site. The tents we used were ok but when the wind came up and if it wasn't anchored boy it took off like a kite without a string attached and it was a mad dash across the ice to capture it. It only happened once but that was enough thank goodness.

I sure like the clam with the tub and tent all in one. you can tow the unit to the fishing hole and flip it up and start fishing right away. I like that

If anyone else has any ideas about a fishing tent I would sure like to now even if its home built. Take care keep the shiny side up.
