Actually, Snowbuster, it's my buddy's rancher. I do ride it upon occasion and I ride with a lot of honda guys. This is an '02 4x4 and it is a torque sensing limited slip diff. The power is supposed to transfer to the tire with the most traction. There have been problems with the torque being sent to the spinning tire...go figure...what good is that? Honda was supposed to fix the bugs in the system, but who knows.

It did happen to me once on the rancher, where I was high centered on a log and the right front tire was spinning in the air...while the other tire was on a log. I turned the handle bars right and left, tapped the brake and it seemed to work after that. But that is really the only time I noticed it.

I do believe you can install a detroit gearless locker/unlocker kit and that would definately fix your problem. Highlifter has 'em.

Hope this help!

thanks a lot fangoELgato you saved me a lot of trouble. and the detroit gearless locker/unlocker kit sounds like it would do the job. maybye when i get the money. but for now on untill i get that money i think ill try taping the brake. you dont know how relived i am to know its not just my rancher. i thought this was the case but wasnt sure, its not like a honda to fail like that. thanks a lot.
and dont have to much fun with your rancher. see ya around.

Sorry it didn't work snowbuster... The locker is spendy, but at least it will cure the 3-wheelin.

It's still a Honda, so it will last you forever.
