Registration / Taxes State to State Use
#1
I am a Mayland resident and looks like I will may purchase a quad in either WV or PA. PA requires the quad to be registered and licensed to be able to ride in PA state parks. I plan to maybe ride in all three states. Does anyone know if purchased in WV, I would probably have to transfer the title to MD would I then have to register seperatly in PA inorder to obtain a license? This is a very confusing question. I just want to be straight before I make the purchase. I guess this would be similiar to purchasing in PA, transfering to MD would I have to pay tax twice?

I was looking into the same information, and read that as long as you have your quad registered with your state, and Pa honors it, you will be fine. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/atv/laws.htm This is the page i was looking at, hope it helps.

Thanks for the help, I just found out that only 1 county in MD requires registration. Therefore, I still have to register in PA to ride in PA. I was mainly concerned about the sales tax similiar to buying a vehicle where sometimes you end up paying tax twice.

yes, in pa, you are required to register and pay a fee to be legal. MD no registration, however, permits are required on state operated trails. check the DCNR websites
