Those ford's may last awhile cosmeticly but their engines dont run for beans.
The chevy's may have cosmetic problems, but the engines sure as hell get the job done!

The chevy 327 (5.3L) makes about 285 hp in the truck, but the peak isnt untill over 4500 rpm. Its on the vette block, so you have to rev to the sky to get any get up and go. The engine sucks compared to the 350 vortec my dad had in his 98 Z71.
PS, i wasnt a fan of the chevy/gmc redesign in 99, but the 2003 chevy's have to be the ugliest Fricking things ive ever seen.

I haul Propane with a 2 axle truck gvw of 30k.
We have Fords with the 429 industrial and Chevy's with 427 industrial and a couple with 454's.
My Ford just turned 213k and still has the original untouched engine. Its sister has 209k
(untouched). I add 1 qt of oil between changes.
The Chevy's all have under 40k. The two with the 454's have rebuilt engines in them already.
The 427's have had head gaskets/ heads replaced and one has a rebuilt engine in it.
My truck and it's sister truck rattle and the dashes move! The Chevy's are still tight.
We are constantly taking the Chevy's in for repairs but the old Fords just keep goin.

The old Vortec 350s had I do believe 265HP, because the old impalas had the same engine and they were also pumping 265HP. GM knows what there doing, yall might think the Avanlanche is Ugly, but they sell very good and won truck of the year in motortrend. The Future is coming and just about everything is going to be ugly!

Any Dodge, they are the KIA of trucks. They're ok for 2~3 years but when the warranty expiers you better be ready. Chevy with their sorry *** front ends, leaking main seals and leaking manifolds, faulty GEM moduels are not much better. Fords are not perfect but I would rather replace EGR sensors/valves, speed sensors, and wiper/multy function switches, than manifold gaskets, PS pumps, and oil seals on Chevys.
It's sad to say the best truck I owned was a 1989 Mazda (made in Japan back then). A slow *** 98 HP I-4 but It went 12 years and 168K without any major repairs.

Check out this web page www.pistonslap.com I own a 2002 chevy 2500 hd and it knocks like a train when you start it. only has 20,000 miles and sounds like a truck with 200,000 I won't be blowing $30,000 on another chevy or GM "chevrolet like a knock"
