Never had a problem with the rear wheels flinging mud on the air filter, so I wont go there, but to rejet, run the quad in third gear wide open. While you are wide open Pullt the clutch in and kill the power. Be sure to continue holding the clutch. Come to a stop and check the plug. If it is white, you are lean and need a bigger jet. If it is Dark brown you are rich and need a smaller jet. You are looking for a dark tan, chocolate type color.

so you are saying that if i have no airbox on the filter wont get covered in mud ?
just by the look of it the filter would be about 2 feet away from the rear tires?
but if you have had no problems i guess i wont
also i was wondering
the previouse owner decided to reinforce the swing arm with a nice welding job and i was just wondering where the chain tightener was supposed to be because i have seen no sighn of it ?

I havnt touched mud on my quad in about 10 years, so I really can;t comment on it. I ride on dirt trails and in the sand dunes. But the outerwear is suppose to keep a lot of the crap out. Heck, run two prefilters if you are worriee, they even have waterproof ones.
The chain tightener is the bearing carier. You loosen the 4 bolts on the back of the swing arm and then twist the carrier. You should notice that there are holes in the center of the carrier to stick a bar in to twist.
