Powder coating is by far the best, but Dennis Kirk does have some expoxy frame paint that works pretty good. I think it's a PJ1 product, but I'm not sure.

Friends and buddy prices don't count.... Unless of course, you have one that does powder coating...

The first part of powder coating is getting the frame sand blasted and very clean. I've heard anywhere from $75 to $125 for sand blasting. On the powder coating, I've heard from $175 to $275.....

Like 250 stated, powder is the best. If you can't get it torn down, or just want to do a piece on the quad, a product called POR 15 is something you can actually take a sledgehammer to, and it survives. Auto restoration, and performance shops have it....follow the directs, and it's really tough.

I am by far no expert in this dept. but i was planning on going with powdercoating until a welder of 30+ years told me about acid etching primer. He said it bonds with the metal on a chemical level and lasts alot longer than powdercoating. This is just what i was told, if anyone knows about this i would like to know more. thanks

There very well may be a good brand of etching primer out there, but I can't find it. I have tried several, and they didn't do much at all. I tried them on aluminum, and you could scratch it off fairly easily. I followed any and all directions and recommendations that I could find. I even scuffed it up on my last attempt, and it still wasn't that great. Get some and try it on your a-arms. Maybe you will be succesful.

If you can, go with the powder coating.

FTZlt250r, thanks for the info. I think i am going to stick with powdercoating, but i am going to ask the welder to show me a sample of what he uses. This won't be until the winter and i will post something on it if the results are good. I figure i'll give him a chance to prove it to me. Thanks

Might check this out. Never used them, process sounds good. They do good work on the Headers.
