KX500 QUESTION
#1
How do you think a KX500 engine would perform in a quad chassis(lightend drag only)? I know that it will vibrate but how bad? I'v seen 250r's with cr500 engines in them. I'm just tired of the same old stuff, looking foir something totally different.

GREENGUY,
take a look at my pics link below and you'll see my 88 tecate with a kx 500 motor in it. it's a 525 cc mild motor .
in full mx trim it does 4.8@62 mph at the 300 ft. dirt drags.
putting a kx500 motor in a quad chassis is about the nasyiest motor you can run. i've done many conversions for many people using the 500 motor.the CR500 motor vibrates more then the kx motor and makes about 10 less hp the the kx in stock form.
there are a few things that will be almost a necessity to put it into a quad without it vibrate the machine apart:
first you'll need to get the crank and rotating assembly balanced and use a flywheel wieght.it reduces the engine harmonics significantly. do not use washers on the mounting bolts, you will need very solid sturdy over built motor mounts.
i mx my tecate 500 and yes it still has a bit of vibration but it's about the same as you would feel on athe kx500 bike.
if you're serious about doing a setup like that feel free to get ahold of me at B&B Racing, i'm the owner(JOHN) you can call 815-389-4945 or email me bandbracing@sbcglobal.net
