My Ron Woods Stage One kit for the DS650 came with a racing megaphone exhaust without a spark arrestor. After just a few tank fulls of gas, running in hot & humid sunny weather, at high RPMs and engine temperatures, during drag races, the muffler packing disintegrates causing the exhuast to get loud and the metal cylindrical baffle to come loose and rattle. I called Ron Woods about this and they told me that part of the maintenance is to repack the muffler. To me, it seems like the packing is being consumed too quickly. What is a reasonable amount of time that the packing should last? Are there different types of packing I can buy that might last longer? Are all pipes like this, requiring this re-packing so often, or did I just buy the wrong type of pipe? Someone shed some light on this for me please!
