Default Best 250R Mods?

I have a 250r with stock motor with a k&n filter and CT pipes. I have completely disassembled the bike and am planning on restoring the bike. What do you guys think would be the best mods for the bike, take into a coount a $3000 budget. I am planning on powder coating the frame and swing arm, buying new front shocks and A-Arms, rebuilding the rear stock shock, and getting some type of motor work done.

Man you buy some Elka front shocks that will be about a Grand, A-arms = about 700, back shock rebuildal = 400-500, um coating the frame I am not sure but I would guess about 600 for the frame and swingarm........... So that leaves you with about $$200........... Hmm maybe a new fresh top end or A Delta V-force reed assembly, or perhaps a cool head......... If it was me, I would get the essentials done now and wait off on the powder coating until next year.............. Atleast you could ride it for a period and then take your motor out and send it to either Duncan, ESR, or CT......... That is my .02 man.....

Wow, a $600 powdercoat, man I want to know where that is so I can stay away from there. I hope you didn't go there!! A powdercoat is usually about $300. The cheapest shocks you can get would be works for about $330. They are fine. I only ride dunes so I do not care about ones with adj. comp. and rebound. If you race or want that you are going to have to pay some more money. You could also get some used shocks too. As far as a rear shock rebuild I paid about $350 for mine. I have all new internals from Race Tech and a new spring. A-arms will run you about $600. As far as the top end, I would recommend making sure your bottom end is strong before you start doing motor work. If your bottom end is in good shape, you could get it ported, a new head, lighten flywheel and counterbalancer, advance the timing. However, doing all of that would probably be over your budget. So as far as motor work, you could just go with a new head, new reeds, and a carb. Those three would be about $550.

Man, in this area we only spend around $150 to get a frame powdercoated. Check around. I would drive 100 miles or more in order to save more than $100.
