well i would use some thick aluminum if you can get your hands on some. if not aluminum try to find some thick plastic or some steel if nothing else. after that check around at some local body shops and see if they have a metal cutter, not a torch but the kind you use to cut sheet metal. if you cant find a sheet metal cutter find some one with a cutting torch or buy one your self. after its cut to fit the bottom find the bars to attach it to. then drill your holes and use some "u" bolts to attach it with. i've never done this before but i just thought it up. good luck with your project! I made my own a-arm skid plates out of 1/8" aluminum. I wanted something that would protect from sticks. It does a great job. I used u-bolts to attach them to the a-arms. I also used carboard and superglue to make a template first so that I could see what it looked like before hand and to clear up any clearance issues. It turned out really good.

if u want somethin strong and light then get some 6061 aluminum that's a 1/4 of an inch thick. cut and weld it into shape (i would have it flare up on the sides to protect the frame a lil more) then drill the holes, countersink them, and use some U bolts. cut off the end of the bolt so that it doesn't snag...half the point of skidplates is so that u don't get hung up on stuff.
