Race Gas and 440 kits?

Call GT Thunder in Ohio or TC Racing in PA. If you like westcoast guys call CT Racing in CA or Curtis Sparks Racing [also in CA.] They will tell you how much it's gonna run you. Plan on spending upwards of $2000 for the engine work. 45hp is at the upper limits of the 400's capabilities. It takes some coaxing to get that much out. That $2000 is just the beginning however. If you've got that much juice you'll need a wider and longer quad, better shocks and all the aftermarket extras that will make your quad complete. Good luck and listen to what the tuners have to say. Let us know how it goes. -RT

I've already have Denton +2 A-arms, stainless steel brake lines, Nac's 145/80/10 grooved radials, FMF 909 bars, Works triple rate w/cans, RPM +4 axle, grooved 18-11-8 turf tamers on douglas .190's, k&n filter, 152 main jet, PEP steering damper, AC nerfs, bumper, etc. I'm just looking right now for some mods to do since my quad needs new rings. I figure while I have it apart I might as well upgrade a little. Thanks for the info!!!

I have the 440 kit (Wiseco piston) with 11:1 compression, the Webcam midrange cam, plus all the normal bolt-ons (pipe, filter, jet kit). As far as the internal engine mods go, here are the prices I experienced. Cam: $150 plus shipping (there is a $170 core charge which they will refund upon receiving your original cam in good condition). Big bore kit: $206 (includes shipping). This includes the piston, rings, 89mm sleeve, and gaskets all ordered directly from Wiseco. Labor: $15 to change camshaft gear mounting flange. $75 to remove old sleeve from cylinder, install the new sleeve, bore and hone new sleeve to match new piston.
Add it up, and my total for the internal engine mods is $446 plus whatever shipping I paid on the cam (probably 8 bucks).

Slyder,
You did the work yourself and it cost you $450. What about the header/silencer? [@$400] What about the Rev box? [$110] What about the K&N filter? [$40] I will assume you've got the proper main/pilot already. $450+$400+$110+$40=$1000. If you are gonna do a big bore [by yourself] this is the bottom line. Why would you do the engine work and not finish the package? Maybe you are still running the stock exhaust, filter and black box. Somehow, I doubt you are.

Read my post again. I stated in there that the $450 was for the internal mods only. I am assuming (as you have) that anyone interested in a 440 kit has probably already installed a pipe and filter. I do currently have a pipe (E-series) and K&N filter on my bike. I only paid $175 for my E-series (silencer only) and it is just as fast as my buddie's bike with the same internal engine mods and a complete Big Gun system.
My main point with my post is this: These outfits sell 440 "kits" for anywhere from $285 to $350. These so called "kits" are usually just the piston, sleeve, and gaskets. You can get these same parts yourself by ordering them through the manufacturer (Wiseco, JE) and save a bunch of money. From Wiseco, it will cost you $200 plus shipping. Install the kit yourself (it ain't that hard!) and save even more!
