400EX Mods

I know this has been asked millions of times before, but I am new here so please bear with. I have a 2001 400 and am planning on going with the 440 kit, hotcam and R&D valve springs. I am just concerened about some things:
Is the 440 kit going to run with my stock carb?
Is the stock header pipe going to work (I have an add on E-series WB)?
Should I worry about the positioning height of the new sleeve at the machine shop?
Stage one or two cam (I ride mostly trail)?
Can I do most of the work myslef with the help of my Clymer?
Will it be difficult to set up the valve clearances of intake and exhaust?
Anything you guys can give me will help. Thanks in advance.

What’s the deal? Has this question been asked so many times it has become that incredibly boring? Am I an idiot for asking it? Or does nobody have an answer? I don’t get it…

Hondaluva-I cant answer all your questions but i can tell you that your stock carb will work very well with your 440 and you can also use your stock headpipe and get good performance. As far as a cam you will probably want a cam that is more for low end and midrange power so chose the one that builds its power at the rpm level and range that you will use the most.
