Hello everyone

I just got a 98 banshee. I thought it would be uncontrollable like many guys seem to say. I got it wrong.
It's got ...hum...non stock pipes (I don't know the brand, I bought the banshee like that) and that's pretty all (there are mud rear tires). It's quite stock as you can see.

Here's my problem. I was used to ride a 125 mx bike (with that kind of atomic blow off once you get to high rev). Is it normal that on my banshee, there is no top end power. Everything is in the mid range. From what i've heard or read, it's normal. Is it really normal? If yes, I WANNA BOOST THAT ENGINE ! I want to spin the wheels when I smash the throttle, I want high end power, I want to be afraid when I go flat out.

What are the mods you would do ?

Thanks (though I didn't find the engine fun, atving is fun)

Make sure its jetted right, the top end on the Banshee should scream, and put some pipes on it.

Zorro, say what you want, but those tires should spin wildly. Something isnt right.

I would check the jetting also. What size rear tires are on the back if they are bigger or smaller than 20 inches the sprockets will have to be changed to accomadate the new tire size.
Also change the plugs maybe one is fouled and only one pistion is firing. Banshees rip on straight aways. I never saw a problem with them on a straight away. Notice i said on a straight away They do have flaws elsewhere.
What kind of place do u ride mud, flat, sand etc.. How fast do u want to go?? Put a rotax 720cc conversion on the bike.
Always remember 2 wheels are faster than four.

I also posted a topic in the yamaha atv's and from what everyone said, there's something wrong.
I'm gonna try to fix everything.
I really love 1 cylinder machines. More cylinders there are, the harder it is to see what's wrong.
I'm afraid i'm running on 1 cylinder.

a quick way to see if u running on one cyl. is to put your hand by the exhaust and rev it up, then do the other exhaust and if the same amount of pressure(should be a great bit) comes out well its not on onecyl. but if one is pushin harder then u might wanna change plugs, plug caps/wires...

Hey i have a more stock banshee than you, only dg silencers that came with it.

Even in 6th gear the tires wont stop spinning when off road when you hit the powerband.

On the road it either does big wheelies or spins them through most of the gears.

But i have 18inch tires.

another way to check if your only runnin' on one lung is to feel the pipes, they should be HOT! If one side is not running properly (like a fouled plug) that pipe will stay cold to the touch.
