Personally I think it is a cheap way to do something. You still have to buy a new chain, and should by sprockets. You need a new breakline. You will need to pay somebody to cut and weld in an insert. Still have to revalve or buy a new shock. So when you add it all up, you are saving only a few hundred dollars. Plus you still have a good shape UNCUT swingarm to sell.
If I were you, I would just buck up and pay out the little extra cash.

Extended Swingarm
dave@ilrperformance.com extended my Banshee, Blaster, TRX400EX and my Raptor. None of them have ever failed and they look real nice.
They charge 200.00 for the Big quads and 150.00 for the Blaster.
Always remember though that aluminum swingarms crack over time, period! I have owned dirt bikes, street bikes and quads and the swingarms will develop small cracks if you ride them hard for a long time so you need to check them occasionally and get any fixed right away.
Ask any poor bastard that bought 400EX. These things have CAST aluminum swing-arms. Mine lasted maybe 6 months before it broke almost in half. Dave repaired it, added 4 inches and I've not had any trouble with it yet.
