i was thinking of a summer project of putting a yamaha r1 race bike engine in a go cart, i know thats alot of engine, but i wanna go faster than hell, and im not sure what i should put in there. i want reliability but speed too. this wont be a major off road machine, just a groomed-trail rider or a duner.and i wanna spin the hell outta the tires on pavement any ideas, expiriences?

You'll probably need a bigger frame that a "go-cart". But its do-able. Figure out your frame first, the dimesions and what kind of suspension you will want. Just do alot of brainwork first, try to figure out all the bugs in you head. Trust me it'll save time when it comes time to start welding. Also, check out "Dans performance center" for parts, they have alot of goodys you could use, like steering parts and fueltanks, etc.
Heck email me if you need more insight, I've built one mini buggy from scratch and am gearing up for another, I might be able to save you some headaches.

I was going to put a gsxr 1100 engine in a go-cart frame. I had planned on building my own frame. my dad knows a guy that works at a metal company so we can get steel tubing dirt cheap. but we found out the motor needed 2 much work. so my dream cart went down the crapper hole.
so I have to wait till after I get my shee to start on my cart.
