Worn Reeds?
#1
Hey guys I have never really checked the reeds on my Lt before, I don't feel a problem as of right now but I was going to take a look at them to see what condition they were in. What am I looking for? Do they get worn down so that you can notice or do you just replace them after a period of time. I was just going to put the boyesen Performance reeds in, do they make a noticable difference in performance? or is it just a waste of money?
Thanks for any help

you are looking for any chips or crackes in the reeds. Your also looking to make sure that the reeds fully come back to where they sit and there is no gaps where air can get threw. You wont notic a huge diffrence with just changing reeds, but there will be some, and its not a waste of time or money to get them.

Boysen makes very good reeds. They have a few styles to choose from, talk with a local shop and see what they are recommending for your setup and area. To really have reeds perform at there best you may need a better carb/pipe setup also.

yeah i have had the power reeds and just installed the pro series reeds on my blaster and they work great and their made good too. You will notice more response with aftermarket exhuast on it. But it is worth the money. Use reed spacers also to boost it a little more but dont try to use the spacers with aftermarket cages like rad valves or v- force cause they do not fit. good luck

not true he has an LT. I do admit V-force makes the best reeds for banshees, dirt bikes, etc. But Boysen makes better reeds for LT's, blasters, etc. Try for carbon fibers.
Do what speed bump says and talk to your mechanic, if he is a good mechanic he should know what is best.
Although speedbump will probably change his mind to disagree with me(cause i'm from Utah)
