FMF Q Series vs. Pro Circuit type 296 for 250R?
#1
Ok, I am in the market for a new silencer/spark arrestor for my 86 250R. This bike already has the following aftermarket mods. 265cc, mild porting work, 39mm PWK carb, K&N intake, and Full FMF Fatty exhaust. My problem is that I ride this bike on the Oregon Coast dunes where the sound requirements are all the way down to 93db in some places (insane). Does anyone have experience with either the FMF Q series, or the Pro Circuit type 296 on this bike? I need to know which one is the better silencer for power, and noise level. They both seem to be about $140. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

My main concern is the noise, both these pipes I believe are designed to pass the 96db limit and the limit at most dune riding areas on the OR coast are all the way down to 93db.

Spend a little bit more money and get either a Sparks or Esr pipe. You'll be much happier and they're not so loud that any rangers are gonna bother you. Where in Oregon are we retricted to 93 db's????? I know 96 is the "LIMIT" but it isnt really inforced unless your acting like a fool.

well ESR wont get you under 96db's. Neither will sparks. LRD makes a silencer that is almost twice as long as a regular silencer that you would get from ESR, FMF, duncan ect.. LRD's is real quiet but it will cost you a little bit more, but its worth it.
