whats next for my LT250R
Right on,
Im not in school either because I graduated early (in january after 1st semister)
No one around here likes to ride the pits anymore. Most of the people i ride with have street/trail bikes or utility bikes. Occasionaly i ride with a 400ex and a 250R... You should come down here, I have 4 pits just down the road.

Hey guys, they dont make t racing nerf bars for the lt's, but i found some x-factor ones which look similar.and they say there the same as 400ex-250r and the zilla!if this is true most standard nerfbars for the ex and 250r would work on the lt's!, and theres alot more companies making them for the hondas then are old lt's!

The absolute best investment you can make to go you go faster with an LT250R is put the money that you have in an interest bearing account and save up for a bad azz 4-stroke. I admire the lt250r for what it was, but the technology is outdated. Don't get me wrong there are guys with 250s that will smoke anything on 4 wheels - but they have 10-20 k sunk into them to do it. Why bother with all the hassle of upgrading everything when you can get a new quad that will already have everything that you want/need for less work. less headache. and overall less money with better reliability?

It takes more money to make a 4 stroke fast than to make a 2 stroke fast. Four strokes have more parts. Dollar for dollar, you can usually make a faster 2 stroke than 4 stroke. Actually, since a new 4 stroke costs $6000, and you can easily puchase a LT250 for $2000, with the $4000 you saved, you can make one hell of a fast bike, the 4 stroke would need another $2000 grand just to be able to hang.

My friend has a lt250r and while it was awesome in its day, and is still a very respectable quad, it makes more sense to me to have the reliability and convenience of the 4 stroke. He got his (like you said for about 2 grand)and while he hasn't put 4 grand into it he has put on an FMF pipe, bored 30 over, re-jetted, boisen reeds, re-geared, K&N filter, tried 18, 20, and 22 holeshot tires, and despite weighin much less than I (his quad and him) he can't get near my bone stock DS650. The 2 strokes had their day but that is coming to an end with the development of higher output technology for the 4 strokes. in addition my quad handles much better than his in everyway except flat cornering. By the time he got done putting new shocks and enough motor mods to stay with (not even beat me) he would have a $6,000 quad that is still almsost 20 years old and lacks the reliability, comfort, easy maintenance, and resale value of my stock DS. And with the ever improving 4 stroke technology it makes sense to me to make the leap out of the 80's and into the present. I am sure that at one time the cowboys riding horses said something similar to " i wouldn't be caught dead in one of those automobiles", but we see where that ended up now don't we.
