Default Homemade A-arms?

My '88 250R isn't wide enough, Has anyone here ever made their own a-arms? I have a really hard time justifying sending someone that much money for some a-arms?

Thanks
Bubba

How do you think there is so many companies that make them. If you got a tube bender and a tig I would go to town. see if you can barrow a set from a friend and copy them.

We've had the same idea! They're so expensive. You can buy the ball joints and tie rods and make the rest yourself it you have access to the tools and welder you need. Try it out! Post pics if you do!

A friend of mine made A arm extensions for his 250R and Warrior by carefully cutting the arm, found some round stock that fit inside the arm tube, and used it for reinforcement for the new pieces he welded in to lengthen his. He has raced them for a couple of seasons, no problems.Just welding more tube on might not be strong enough, so his idea of internal reinforcement made a lot of sense.
