just put a hot cam in and was on about my 4th ride, it was running great full power and the timing chain let go.
anyone know how many headaches i am in for and how much one is? also will it be very difficult to replace it? how much is involved ?how far in the motor do oyu have to go?

Ha Ha, I didn't see that coming, i guess your right. As far as putting a new one back in you could probably put a new one back in your self if you have the tools. I'm not sure about the details, but you just have to pull the top most cover off the motor to expose the valvetrain. be sure to have the crank shaft positioned so the piston is at topdeadcenter on the compression stroke. Loosen the timing chain tensioner as much as possible w/o it falling out, if i'm not mistaken the gear on the end of the camshaft should come off, if it does take it off. apply some oil to the new chain and dip it down into the motor to get it hooked on the gear on the crank(if need a little help try using a close hanger) then put the other end of the chain around the gear off the camshaft and slide it back on the shaft. Thats pretty much it except for bolting everything back together, but before you domake sure the timing marks line up where they should (usually a mark stamped on the gear) its best to refer to the manual. hope this helps.

Just got done with mine, so here is the way to do it. Pull the top cover and the stator cover. Before you pull the stator cover, line up your tdc marks. Then use a flywheel puller and pull the oneway and the gear behind it, this will get you to the chain on the inside. Pull the chain tensioner on the back of the cylinder and then take off the cam gear. Now line up TDC on the cam. Make sure the oiling holes on the cam face up and the decompression shaft pin points up. Now there are three marks on the cam gear. Two of them go across the straight part of the head and the one should face straight up along with the decompression tab. Make sure you loc tite the cam gear bolts when you go back togther and make sure it stays on tdc
