Changing tranny oil in R
#1
I just bought a 310R and was trying to change the oil in the tranny. a person told me about the oil check bolt on the side and i took that out and nothing came out. then i tryed un screwing the wing nut off the bottom of the motor.is the wingnut supposed to come all the way off of the little threaded rod it is on? it seemed like that rod was spring loaded or somethen..i could push it up into the motor and pull it out but i could not get the wingnut off of the rod or the rod to unscrew out of the motor...i got some oil to come out...its just slowly dripping....any help would be appreciated. Thanx

....Not sure I'm reading you right? I just changed my gear oil in my "R" today and did it as Honda says, simply this. (I've done this millions of times!)
1. remove the 17mm drain bolt from bottom rear of case.
2. after draining, reinstall 17mm bolt and fill to the following level: remove the oil check bolt from the right side of case, and fill untill oil just starts to run out.
3. reinstall oil check bolt and tighten.
Where are you finding a wingnut? Was this wingnut at the back of the case on the bottom? If it is and it only will come out so far, it must be a quick-drain someone has installed. Try to drain as much fluid as you can this way, then fill as I mentioned above. Happy roosting!

I don't know of anything on an R that represents a wing nut except for the plastic oil fill cap.
What wing nut are you talking about? The case oil drain bolt? It should be a 17mm bolt. Take a picture of it and show us.
