Hey. i have alot into my qaud and i dont want to blow it up. I suck at listening to the motor, and would prob end up shifting way too soon, or blowing it sky high. so i was wondering if i could hook up a cheep tack? ive seen tacks for like 20$ at AIDS Auto Store. oh yea, i got an 86 LT250R. thanks for all help

 

yamaha sells a little one that runs on watch batteries and fits just about anything. dealer has it in the yam catalog. really cool.

 

How does it go on? on the Cap of the spark plug?? and how much is it? under 50$ i need. thanks

 

i dont know. ive seen them installed on lots of utility quads tho. yamaha website maybe? it's a little black box.

 

Im runnin an Autometer. Just a plain ole tach. You cut two wires in the back to make it read for a 4cyl and it'll work for a 2 stroke. I got a 12v cordless grease gun battery to power it. Cause ive removed my charge coils

 

I picked up a tach from a local Wal-Mart. You need one that can work 2-strokes (if thats what you ride) as well as one that can work on singal cylinders. Check them out at any auto store and read the back to see if they will work. They are really easy to hook up also.
