I am getting ready to order a 4.5 gallon clear IMS fuel tank. I have heard war stories of nothing fitting on Clarkes, not sure on IMS.

I do plan on modifying the steering stem for more clearence (+1 taller and forward +1)

Any suggestions?

I have the 3.6 gallon IMS tank and it fits fine. Not sure on the 4.5 gallon.

Ordered a 3.6 gallon IMS today. I believe the 3.6 gallon has enough fuel to finish a GNCC 2 hour race. The stock tank would finish an 1.5 hr hare scramble, but had to switch to reserve on the last lap.

If you have any different info let me know.

250R w/ wiseco +.25mm, CR head gasket, fatty. It is sucking a little more fuel since I did the mods, hope it makes it or I'll have a nice long wlak at the Penton.

well i don't think ims makes a 4.5 gal. tank for the 250r they list it on there web site but it is realy a 4.0 gal. (i think) tank.i have the 4.0 gal. and it fit fine it does spread the plastic a little that i do not like, but other than that i think it is great. Give them a call and see but i called them about it a couple times and they do not change there page, unless there is a new tank and they would not tell me about it. Post what you find out please.

Who knows what they are up to. All I know is the part number I listed above is for what is advertised as a 4.5 gallon tank. It actually only holds about 4.2 gallons. They also have one that is listed as a 3.6 gallon tank. All I do is fill out the order form for what is listed as a 4.5 gallon tank, fax it to IMS and the largest tank they make shows up at my door in about a week. Sounds like maybe someone called their bluff sometime or another and they are now trying to cover their butt.

ok. when i got mine i think it said there may be a (i think) 7% change in size. LOL o well it is big and that is ok for me. i saw a add for a 6 gal aluminum tank that thing has to be BIG i have a out-n-back rack that has a 1 gal. tank and if i need more i have the spot for a cooler that i can put a can in and by that time i have about 60-70 pounds of gas hanging on my quad.
