Default 400ex rolling chassis, what motor?

Im buying a complete 2001 rolling chassis in great shape and want to know what would be a good motor to put in it that wouldnt require a ton of work or cutting th eframe.NEED ADVICE! Can e-mail me at panteramatt78@hotmail.com

I have seen crf450r engines transplanted into them without much fanfare.

the cr250r bike engine goes in pretty nicely too.

Don't be afraid to cut the frame, it's not that big of a deal. The metal is easily welded, even a stick welder will do a safe job. If it were me, I'd put a Banshee motor in it. You'd have decent suspension from the 400ex and as much HP as you can afford in a light weight motor that was made for a quad.

I would like a 4 stroke with a lot of horsepower potential and just want someone with experience to help m eout. I was thinking a crf,yfz,or big xr engine.
