a balancer gear broke in half and lodged itself between the crank gear and cracked the casing.

The blaster is the same motor as the Yamah IT200. I think they stoped making it in the late 80's or early 90's, but thats where the blaster motor came from.

I think they made them as late as 1997, for the money not a bad machine and yes they were manual clutch.

OOPs my bad, Shav0 was correct and I was thinking of the Yamaha RT180 which ended in 1998.

The last IT being the 1985 IT200.

Fordblaster.
Im positive it will fit, it's the exact same motor. When yamaha was first desiging the blaster they didn't create a new motor, they simpily took one from another bike they had and built the blaster around that. To look at a IT motor sitting next to a blaster motor you won't tell the difference.

the it200 does not have a counter balance gear, the cylinder will fit, but good luck finding an it200 engine, your better off just buying a couple used case halves and rebuilding the bottom end, it will be cheaper and more reliable in the long run, trying to rig another bottom end that was not supposed to be will just be major frustration, besides, what you'll pay for a bottom end, you could pick up a couple case halves for about 100.00 on e-bay, you won't find a complete bottom end for that, and then to find a bottom end that doesn't need rebuilt is going to be rare also, think about it, the blaster bottom end has way more parts available than the it200.

You can use the bottom end without the counter balancer gear if you true the crank. If not it'll vibrate and cause problems, but like pete said, you might be better off to just get genuine blaster stuff.
