Frame for a project motorcycle quad
#1
Howdy all, I am right now in Arizona at lake havasu for world finals in jet ski racing but I live in South Florida and I work at farthing racing for Dustin Farthing, anyone who follows jet ski racing knows who he is but I pretty much have the full advantage of a shop to work on anything. I have a 96 yzf600 and a kawi bayou 300 4x4 and 2 parts bikes that are yzf600's. I have a spare motor which puts out about 100 hp so I figure hey why not put it into a ATV. I'm looking for a full rolling chassis but a frame would be good alone. My question, what is the best bang for the buck finding a frame to work on, I am thinking about an old 250 atv or I have seen a few kawi frames on ebay kinda cheap. Does anyone have a frame for sale? I am gunna be goin back to FL on the 14th so if anything I could stop off on my way back to pick up a frame for the right price. Anyone know anyone?
I was looking for a 400ex chassis actually cause I loved riding them and I Think handeling on a 400 is better than much other quads I have ridden. So if anyone has one of those lemme know.

I agree with 4CYL... if you liked riding the EX, there are all kinds of parts available for them... I was / am planning a similar project with an H-1 or H-2 motor, & was looking at the Polaris scrambler frames, but was planning on setting mine up with a clutched CVT

look at my pis page.i have a 95yzf600 motor in a custom chassis i built.i think a banshee frame would be the way to go if you wanted something already built, but the upper frame rails will have to be raised for carb clearance

taking my ds w/hayabusa 1300 to the sand for the first time halloween. it is not a light quad when done (70lbs heavier than stock ds) but the hayabusa motor is a monster. the ds frame and stock motor work well together for duning or racing (no fancy gas needed to go fast) or so i'm told. alot of fab work to fit it all, but there is always alot offab work needed for these things to work well.

WEll I dont wanna build a drag quad so its not like I'm gunna extend the swing arm like 14 inches, I want it to ride around mine and my buddys place and take it out and whoop some **** on some other quads, the motor weights about 150~ which is pretty heavy for an ATV engine but its alright, I Was thinkin abnout a quadzilla frame but I Cant really find any rolling chassis so I'm thinkin of fabbin up all of my own stuff. The kinda quad I'd want outta this project is comething with huge suspension travel and soaking ability but geared to run about 120 to pick up some more acceleration. I want this quad to be wide, probably about as wide as a raptor with extended A-arms or even 2-4 "s over. I dont want a long **** swingarm but I would want it a lil longer than normal mabey 2-4 "s ove that also with a wider swingarm. I found a guy that wants liek 400 for a rolling 250 chassis but he'd only sell me that if I bought another 400 bux worth of parts so I dont know. I'm on a limited budget so I think I might hold on to this until I can spend a lil bit mor emoney on it unless someone has a frame layin around some where, hint hint. Thanx for all the suggestions guys!
