Default 450r steering stem

i want to get a new steering stem for my 450r. i want one with an anti-vibe handlebar clamp, and i'm still trying to decide how much taller I want it. i know i want it at least an inch taller so i'm no bending over while standing up. how much taller can i go with all the stock cables and brake lines? ne reccomendations as far as company is concerned? i like the houser ones, and same with the gibson. i can't afford the lone star, or roll degin ones yet. ne body put a new stem on their 450r?

Funny, I just lowered mine a couple of inches. Found those stock bars kind of tall, like riding a chopper. I went with Tag Metals T2. Check them out, they may have a bend that you like. I went with CR double-high.

i have a set of renthal ATV race bend. they are basically the CR double, but very slightly lower, and slightly less bend i beleive. the problem for me is that when i stand up, i can't straighten my legs, or i'm hunched over. i want either 2 or 3 inches tho. if i can't go 2 inches without new cables ne stuff, imma wait til i can replace the brake lines, cables, steering stem, and clamp all at once. thanx for the help.

Are you really tall, with long arms? If so, I can see why you might have a problem. I am average height (5' 7"), but all my height is in my torso, and I have short arms and legs. So, I like a compact cockpit.

If you are wondering about the cables, just unbolt the bars, hold them 2" higher, and see if everything is going to reach. You might be able to find some aftermarket mounts, that will raise your bars. I would give Tag a call. I have found them to be very helpfull at times.

i'm 6'1" or so, probly closer to 6'2" now. i've been lookin around, and everything i can find says that the highest u can raise them with stock cables is 1 1/4". i wish i coulda found that info before i posted the thread, but that seems to be the census. the problem is that i can put a +3 steering stem on it, but when i turn the bars, then the cables will get pulled. thanx for the help, i think im gonna invest in beadlocks instead.
