Warrior carb. problem? Please help!
#1
Ok i got out my 2000 Warrior for a normal day of ridin' and it was runnin' fine like normal for the 1st few minutes. All of a sudden it starts cuttin out real bad when i get on the gas.I then smelt gas and looked underneath and the overflow hose comin' from the carb. was pourin out gas.I started to ride back to the house and all of a sudden it quit so i kept ridin'.Well bout an hour later it started doin the same exact thing. And then once again it quit after a few minutes. Can someone please help me.Sorry for the long question but i dont know what it could be.My dad said maybe dirt got in the carb and the float was stickin. Thanks in advance!

Well your Dad may be right..He probably is most of the time anyway
Fuel pouring from the overflow usually means the the float isn't returning to a normal position & fuel continues to overfill the bowl. Or it may be the float valve that the float tang rests on. These little spring loaded valves can become clogged either open or closed, giving you both of the problems you've experienced. The first thing I'd do would be to pull the carb and spray the various parts; main jet, pilot jet, needle jet, float valve, etc., with a good blast of carb cleaner. Just to make sure the float level is at spec, measure the height of the floats.Button it all back up & prove your Dad right!

Well i dont have an air compressor. Will i have to let it all dry out after i spray the carb cleaner in there or will it be ok to put right back together. And also how do you check the float height.Once again i am grateful for your wisdom!

Since carb cleaner evaporates quickly, the only purpose in using air is to blow out any particles remaining afterwards.
After installing the float, float valve, & jets, turn the carb upside down to measure the float height. The measurement is taken from the surface of the carb body (where it meets the surface of the bowl) to the top of the float while upside down. The factory specs are: 11.4mm-13.4mm with the float tang resting on, but not compressing the float valve. If you do a lot of jumping and/orsteep hill climbing you may want to use the higher of the specs to reduce cavitation in those cases. If the level is out of spec, you adjust it by bending the tang ever so slightly where it meets the float valve, & measuring again.
