I have a Blaster with stock motor, aftermarket pipe and silencer and airfilter. It was running kind of rich (chocolate brown plug) before I installed a new set of reeds and a reed spacer. I started it up and it ran for about 20 seconds then it died. It was out of gas. So I put more in and now it won't start at all. I check the plug and it is wet so it is getting gas and I am going through new plugs. Could it be that the new reeds and spacer could have made it even richer so it's fouling before it can even fire??? Or should the reeds and spacer make it leaner, I don't know?? HELP!!

Make sure you still have spark. I've had things totally unrelated to what I'm working on go bad.

I let the plug dangle on the side of the head and it has good spark. I was told that aftermarket reeds allow more fuel to pass and being that my machine is already rich, I think the reeds pushed it over the limit for being able to start. Any other advice??

unless that thing was so rich before that it was almost unrideable, i doubt the reeds would make a huge difference. Typically reeds richen the mixture a LITTLE bit..like maybe one jet size, because they flow more effiecently. I would check for other problems...

Yes, usually aftermarket reeds cause the engine to run more rich. Changing the reeds should not affect the ability to start unless they are backwards or something is preventing them from opening at all.

Hope your Blaster is up and running by now, but if not, when you ran out of gas you may have wound up with a crankcase full of gas. This will give you a plug that is extremely wet looking and no longer any good. Pull your plug and kick the engine over 50 - 75 times. ( Not kidding. Kick it 50 - 75 times.) This will clean out the crankcase and hopefully keep the next plug dry. P.S. How far is PL from DL ? Just Curious as I have family in Rochert, Mn.

Duneman09--- Are you talking about Detroit Lakes. If you are I live about 2 hours from DL. Pequot Lakes is in the dead center of Minnesota. This is were I work. But I live in Brainerd about 25 miles away. I know everybody has heard of Brainerd International Raceway. They hold al of the Superbike and NHRA drags there. It's about 2 miles from my house so yea.....it's very freakin' loud at my house in the summer. Anyhow still workin on the "*******", I know it's something simple, it will just take me 63 hours to find it!!! Thanks guys!
