Default Awaiting on Delivery Of my 2004 Yamaha Raptor 660r

Hey Guys, I'm new to the forums. I just picked up this quad from Ebay its still in route to me, this is what it has on it this atv has approx. 8hrs riding time.

Extras include hmf full exhaust ,
pro-flow k&n air filter system,
dyno jet kit,
tag handle bars,
gytr full belly skid plate,
full swingarm skid plate,
works connection frame guards,
roll design shifter,
quick adjust clutch lever,
ITP Holeshots On polished beaded rims
New Yamaha Graphics w/seat cover
ITM Polished heal Guards
New inline water cooler 25 fin
new CDI 1000 RPM Box
Brand New Procom Magic Power Box
polished oil tank
Carbon Fiber headlight guards
Red performance silicone hoses
polished gas cap
Custom Grab bar by C&C
Custom front Bumper By C&C
And a polished flame grill

My question is what can I do to make this beast faster when I get it? Is there a better pipe? I saw someone suggested a barkers pipe? Is that cool, where do I get it? How is the exhaust thats on it? I'm eventually changing the swingarm and all of the other parts to polished as well. How do I widen the wheel base a tad? I see 5' spacers on ebay all of the time, can someone suggest something for me. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'm not a fan of spacers. In the front they cause all kinds of bump steer. In the rear they put a lot of pressure on the axle. I'd use rears before I used fronts, but for 200 bucks you can buy a cheap aftermarket axle.

Yes, there are better pipes. IMO you would be better off with a sparks or CT system. The Barker duals and LTE duals are great pipes, but they are about 200 dollars more and you arent going to see any kind of significant hp gain over the CT or sparks without some internal engine and head work.

Sounds like a nice machine, and I'm sure it will look great polished. Congrats on the purchase.

Thanks Maddog! Is there any particular pipe model I'm looking for, and were can I find them? As far as the axle, I have no problem buying a new one, to make the rear a little wider what would I be looking for. Don't want anything drastic, just a little wider. As far as the intake, does that look cool. And as far as the pipes, do I rejet the carbs when I change the pipes, or do I keep whatever is in there. Not sure what it has.

Sweetquads is a sponsor for the site, you can find his forum at the top of the page. He has good prices on the exhaust sytems he carries. Sparks and CT are availible from a couple of different retailers, but the prices are pretty much the same. Barkers are only availible from BarkersBars or Craycraft racing from what I understand. I would just order from the pipe maker itself in those cases. There is just one model of pipe from each of these companies for the Raptor, but you do have some different spark arrestor and finish options. IMO, Barkers may be too much for an internally stock bike.

Rockymountain ATV sells the G-force axle for the Raptor. I believe its adjustable, but its 4 inches wider than stock at the largest point. I dont have any personal experience with it, but most people who have bought one and posted about it have been happy. I would check RockyMountain's website or call to check on the adjustability or lack there of. Price is 200 bucks.

The intake does look cool, a UNI or K&N with an outerwear and the airbox lid removed is pretty sharp but you'll only be able to see it with the seat off.

When you change pipes you will have to make some small jetting changes. When you change the intake you will need much more drastic jetting changes. Some pipes come with the jets, some dont. Just about all of them come with instructions and if not you can call the pipe maker and they will help you out.
