I have been thinking of trying a light wieght flywheel. Has anyone tried them are they worth the money? I would think eliminating rotating mass would be a good help on acceleration (drag racing) but do you think they will withstand trail riding and duning? I guess they should if they are balanced well but I didnt know if jumping would hurt them.

the bike will rev faster but it will lose torque for trail riding...you won't be able to lug the motor...it'll be snapery too

So basically it will be faster in a drag race but a little wild in the trails because it will rev to fast.

Flywheels doesn't affect speed... It'll affect acceleration, lighter= Better accel easier to stall Heavier= lower accel, more managable, and harder to stall.... Personally i would go with a bit heavier, If you get some engine mods and stuff it'll keep it more undercontrol & less ripping your arms off UNLESS YOU ARE RACING

Every YFZ owner I know, talks about going HEAVIER, not lighter! Even the MX guys.

I could see going heavier if you were woods/mx but in a drag I think you would have to be faster. Its just like a car for ie. march pullies are lighter I even run a light weight flywheel in my car. I am not trying to argue just trying to find the facts I wish someone had ran a light weight flywheel so I would know the facts. Maybe I will just order on and try it.

Odd, not where we come from. Take a look over at Y F Z central.com. There's a few thousand members and I bet no more than ten are running heavier. The rest are running lighter. Probably one of the more popular upgrades over there.

I'm running a -4 on mine right now. Stalls a little easier. The payoff in accelleration is worth it IMO. There is a -6 that's available now. Haven't had any experience with it though.

Overall I'm happy with mine. I'd do it again. I ride 90% trails and woods. The rest is track and drag racing. It doesn't bother me any.
